A collection of motoring accessories including a Dunlop writing instrument in its original yellow cardboard box. The pen features a marbled brown and orange body with a gold-tone nib and clip, with the Dunlop name printed in script on the barrel. The cardboard box is printed with the Dunlop brand name in block lettering flanked by tyre tread graphics. A Romac dipstick wiper tool is included in its original yellow box, accompanied by a paper instruction leaflet. The tool consists of a metal spring clip with felt pads, and the box is printed with Romac Dipstick Wiper, Cat. Ref. D54, and the manufacturer address Romac Industries Ltd., The Hyde, London, N.W.9. A cylindrical lithographed tin flask for Dunlop Dusting Chalk is included, featuring a yellow and red ground with black lettering and instructions for use as a tyre lubricant on the reverse. The collection also contains a Sphynx spark plug housed in a green lithographed tin with a hinged lid. The lid depicts a sphinx graphic and the Sphynx brand name, with a guarantee printed on the base stating British Manufacture.


Condition report:

The Dunlop pen box is in poor condition with significant tearing to the end flaps, structural collapse, and water staining visible (photo 1). The Romac dipstick wiper shows light oxidation to the metal clip, and the cardboard box has significant edge wear, crushing, and surface soiling (photo 2). The Dunlop dusting chalk tin has significant surface wear, scratches, and minor dents, with rust present on the screw-cap and base rim (photo 3). The Sphynx spark plug tin shows heavy paint loss and scratches to the exterior, with significant internal oxidation and rust (photo 2). The spark plug itself exhibits heavy surface corrosion to all metal components (photo 2).
