A double-sided flanged enamel advertising sign for BP Motor Spirit. The sign features a central white roundel set against a Union Jack flag background in red, white, and blue. The roundel bears the lettering BP in large blue block type within quotation marks, flanked by the words MOTOR at the top and SPIRIT at the bottom, both in a blue serif font. The lower edge of the white roundel contains small red printed text reading BRUTON, LONDON, N.

Condition report:

The sign is in as-found condition with significant signs of outdoor use. There is substantial enamel loss and heavy corrosion along the mounting flange and the adjacent vertical edge (photos 2, 4, and 8). Multiple chips to the enamel surface are visible on both sides, notably around the letter P, on the red horizontal bars of the Union Jack, and along the outer edges (photos 1, 5, and 6). The surface shows fine scratching and a dulling of the original gloss (photo 7). Two mounting holes within the design field show enamel loss and rust (photos 1 and 2). The flange is bent at a 90-degree angle and shows heavy pitting and oxidation (photo 4).
