A double-sided flanged enamel advertising sign for BP Motor Spirit, featuring a Union Jack flag ground. The central white circular reserve contains the brand logo with BP in a stylized blue block serif typeface, flanked by quotation marks, and the words MOTOR and SPIRIT in a matching serif font. The sign is finished in a palette of red, white, and deep blue. The lower left edge bears a white printed date mark reading 6/26. The bottom right corner features a white printed maker mark reading IMPERIAL ENAMEL CO BIRM M. The sign retains its integral mounting flange to the right-hand side.

Condition report:
The sign is in used, original condition with significant areas of enamel loss and environmental wear. There is heavy chipping and loss of enamel along the left edge and bottom-left corner (photo 4 and 7), and to the top-right corner (photo 8). Several impact chips are visible within the main field, including one to the letter B (photo 2), one between the P and the quotation mark (photo 8), and multiple smaller chips to the red and white bands of the flag (photo 1). The surface exhibits extensive fine scratching and a reduction in original gloss across both sides (photo 3 and 6). Exposed metal at chip sites shows dark oxidation and surface rust, particularly along the edges and the mounting flange (photo 3 and 7).
