A flanged enamel advertising sign for Speedwell Motor Oil, featuring a dark blue ground with yellow chequered borders. The central section is divided by a white horizontal band containing the brand name Speedwell in red block letters with blue drop-shadowing, above a yellow band with the words Motor Oil in matching red lettering. The central oval logo features a red ground with a graphic depicting a stylized black figure in a white loincloth carrying a yellow oil tin on their head, being chased by a yellow and black striped tiger. The slogan Running Made Easy is printed in white script within the oval. A small yellow rectangular mark below the oval reads REGISTERED TRADE MARK in black block letters. The sign is constructed from heavy-gauge steel with a single-sided display and an integral mounting flange.

Condition report:
The sign is in used, original condition with visible wear throughout. There is significant enamel loss and heavy corrosion along the mounting flange and all four edges (photos 1, 6, and 7). Several impact chips with radiating spidering cracks are present on the main lettering, specifically to the letters S, P, and W of Speedwell (photos 2, 3, and 5). The blue ground shows numerous fine surface scratches and scuffing consistent with age (photos 8 and 10). Fine hairline crazing is visible in the white enamel background (photo 8).
