A Player’s Navy Cut promotional booklet designed for the storage of cigarette cards. The hardcover binding is finished in a dark grey textured cloth with a reptilian pattern, featuring a black cloth spine. The front cover displays a central gilt title in script reading Cigarette Pictures and a circular printed pictorial insert. This insert depicts a central bearded sailor in uniform flanked by sailing ships, with an upper arc of text reading PLAYERS and a lower arc reading NAVY CUT. The interior contains multiple pages of thick dark grey paper, each featuring nine pre-cut oval apertures for the insertion of collectible cards. The album is entirely empty and unused. Measurements taken across the front cover show a width of approximately 8.75 inches and a height of approximately 10.5 inches.
Condition report:
The album shows noticeable rubbing and wear to the outer edges and corners, with the cardboard core exposed at the corner tips (photo 1). The textured covers exhibit surface scuffing and areas of dark staining or soiling (photo 2). There is minor wear and softening to the black cloth spine at the head and tail (photo 1). Internally, the pages show light handling wear and minor toning consistent with age, though the die-cut oval slots remain crisp and undamaged (photo 3).
