A set of four square ceramic advertising ashtrays for Black & White Scotch Whisky. The group features varied graphic designs, including a central grayscale photographic-style transfer of the signature black Scottish Terrier and white West Highland Terrier, a line-art illustration of the pair with dog vignettes to the rim, and a central black shield logo. The pieces are finished with black borders and checkerboard patterns. The underside of one ashtray bears a printed green shield scroll mark for Shelley England. Two further examples feature a circular printed mark reading James Green & Nephew Ltd. Designers & Manufacturers London & Stoke Made in England, one in black and one in green ink, with the latter also featuring an impressed mark reading Made in England S 3 2. The fourth ashtray is marked with a small black printed Made in England stamp.

Condition report:
All four pieces exhibit visible crazing to the glaze, which is most pronounced on the James Green & Nephew examples (photo 2). Significant staining and discolouration are present on the unglazed foot rims and undersides throughout. The Shelley ashtray shows some fading and rubbing to the central photographic transfer (photo 1). Minor flea bites are visible to the edges, consistent with age and use.
