A circular glazed ceramic advertising ashtray for Robin Cigarettes. The cream ground features a central transfer-printed illustration of a European Robin perched upon a branch with a faint green background wash. The rim is decorated with the repeating slogan SMOKE “ROBIN” CIGARETTES in black serif uppercase lettering. The underside bears a black printed mark consisting of a bird figure perched atop a sphere, with a rectangular border below containing the numbers 9627. An adhesive paper label is present on the base with handwritten text reading £15 and 1920s. The glaze displays an intentional fine crazed finish throughout.

Diameter: 4 5/8 inches.


Condition report:

Fine crazing is visible across the entire glazed surface on both the front and reverse. There is minor surface staining and discolouration within the centre well (photo 1) and around the base foot rim (photo 2). Several small dark kiln spit marks are present on the reverse from the firing process (photo 2). No chips or cracks are visible.
