A Watneys Pale Ale advertising showcard produced as a die-cut heavy card representation of a side-by-side break-action shotgun. The piece features an articulated design with a central metal eyelet pivot that allows the barrel to drop open, revealing a breech printed with two 12-bore shotgun cartridges. The card is printed with a lithographed green marbled finish to the metalwork and a yellow-green marbled wood effect to the stock. The stock bears an integrated printed label with the slogan HIT THE PALE TRAIL! above a circular logo containing a red barrel marked Pale Ale and the word WATNEYS. Further text below reads with WATNEYS PALE. The reverse is plain brown card with remains of three adhesive tape strips.

Condition report:

Generally clean with vibrant colours throughout. Minor wear is visible to the card edges and pointed tips (photo 1). Small creases and light scuffing are present consistent with age and material. Three remnants of old yellowed masking tape are present on the reverse (photo 3). The articulated pivot mechanism is functional (photo 6).
