A Morrell’s Trustees advertising showcard for the Lion Brewery, Oxford. The card features a pale green ground with a central lithographed vignette of an oak barrel marked XX, surrounded by a garter device inscribed Brewed From The Best Malt & Hops Only. The central graphic is flanked by realistic clusters of hops and stalks of barley. The typography is rendered in a Victorian shaded style, with the main titles reading Morrell’s Trustees Genuine Ales and Stout. Below, a scrolled banner identifies The Lion Brewery Oxford, adjacent to a red rectangular panel containing secondary text for Brewers Maltsters &c, Bottled Ales and Stout. The bottom centre margin bears a printed mark reading Drake Driver & Leaver Limited London. The reverse is plain unprinted pasteboard.

Condition report:

The card shows wear and creasing to the edges, with minor paper losses at the upper-left and bottom corners (photo 1). There is light surface toning and scattered foxing spots throughout the field. Faint graphite markings are visible above the word Stout in the upper-right quadrant (photo 3). The board remains structurally flat and stable.
