Lot 45: Antique Fry's Pure Cocoa Vitreous Enamel Advertising Sign with Royal Warrants

A large, antique horizontal advertising sign, single-sided, constructed of vitreous enamel (porcelain) on steel. The sign features a dark cobalt blue ground with large stylized white lettering reading “Fry’s PURE COCOA.” Yellow accents are used for the borders and cartouches containing inscriptions. The design includes two British Royal Coats of Arms, each marked “BY APPOINTMENT.” A cartouche on the lower left confirms the Royal Warrant status, reading “MAKERS TO T.M. THE KING & QUEEN.” The sign is mounted using four visible fasteners, one in each corner. A second, partially obscured enamel sign, similar in style, is visible beneath the main piece.
