Lot 78: Black & White Scotch Whisky Advertising Light Up Display
0 views
A Black & White Scotch Whisky advertising electric point-of-sale display and clock featuring the brand’s iconic Scottish Terrier and West Highland White Terrier mascots. The composition figures are painted in black and white respectively, mounted upon a black painted wooden base. The base includes a recessed circular well at the right-hand side. The figures are constructed with hollow backs and a removable rear panel secured by metal hooks. The interior contains a collection of vintage electrical components, including red-cased wiring and capacitors, one of which bears the partial printed lettering D.C. W[…] M[…] N.Y. The front of the terrier figures features two circular apertures originally intended for clock hands and a dial mechanism, which are currently absent.
Condition report:
The display shows significant signs of wear and is missing its original lighting, leaving two open apertures to the front (photo 1). The electrical components are disconnected and frayed with no power cord present (photo 3). There is widespread paint loss and chipping to the dog figures, particularly evident on the ears and muzzles, and the white figure shows surface yellowing and grime (photo 1).
