A Staffordshire glazed ceramic advertising figurine for Williams & Humbert Ltd, depicting The Sherry Girl. The figure is modelled in a Victorian-style green dress with a white tied apron and a red and white bonnet with earmuffs. She is shown holding a white scalloped tray containing a tan sherry bottle and two small filled glasses. The base is finished in deep red with the title The Sherry Girl hand-painted in white script to the front. The underside of the base features black printed marks including the title The Sherry Girl in a script font within quotation marks, above the text Registered Trade Mark of WILLIAMS & HUMBERT LTD. The lower section is marked STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND in an arched format. A small hand-painted red v-shaped mark is also present on the base.


Condition report:

The figurine exhibits surface wear and dirt, notably small dark spots on the white apron (photo 1). Small chips and paint losses are visible on the edges of the tray, the neck of the sherry bottle, and the rims of the glasses (photos 1 and 2). A small white mark, likely a glaze flake, is present on the lower back of the green skirt (photo 3). The overall structure is sound with no visible cracks or repairs.
