Lot 539: Michelin Man Bibendum Advertising Ashtray

A glazed white ceramic ashtray featuring a three-dimensional figure of the Michelin tyre mascot, Bibendum. The figure is depicted in a seated pose atop the raised rim of a circular dish, with one hand resting on the knee and a sash running across the chest. The body is rendered in the mascot’s characteristic stacked-tyre form. The underside of the dish features a recessed circular foot. Several dark markings are visible within the recessed base and on the underside of the rim; however, these markings are obscured by surface grime and shelf wear, and no specific characters or maker’s names are legible.
