Lot 538: U-NEAD-IT Universal Tyre and Tube Repair Kit Tin

A rectangular lithographed tin for the U-NEAD-IT Universal Tyre and Tube Repair Outfit. The yellow ground is printed with black typography and features a side illustration of the 1929 Schneider Trophy winning Supermarine Rolls-Royce S.6 floatplane, noting the product was used for watertight joints on the aircraft floats. Additional panels note the outfit was used by the Army, Navy, and G.P.O. for repairing tyres, tubes, hoods, and electric wires, originally priced at 2/6. The contents panel lists items including sheeting, cement, canvas, and a roughener, alongside a petroleum mixture warning. The base of the panel is marked for the sole manufacturers, Garton’s, Cranston Works, Forest Hill, S.E. 23. The lid is decorated with a clock face trademark stating Every Time U-NEAD-IT and registration number 416825.
