A very rare square enamel advertising sign for Fry’s Nut Milk Chocolate featuring a dark green ground with bold white serif lettering. The words ‘FRY’S’ and ‘CHOCOLATE’ are styled with a dark brown drop-shadow to create a three-dimensional effect. The lower section includes white lettering reading ‘MAKERS TO H.M. THE KING, H.M. THE QUEEN & H.M. QUEEN ALEXANDRA.’ The bottom margin is printed with the manufacturer’s mark ‘CHROMO WOLVERHAMPTON’ to the right and ‘J. S FRY & SONS LTD BRISTOL’ to the left.

Condition report:

Some areas of enamel loss and corrosion to all four corners and along the outer edges (photo 1). There is evidence of over painting around the perimeter of the sign with a few patches close to the edges also. There is a jagged area of loss to the bottom right corner (photo 3) and similar corrosion to the bottom left corner which partially obscures the printed address (photo 2). The main field shows scattered surface impact chips and scratches (photo 4).
