A two gallon rectangular petrol can for Big Tree Motor Spirit. The front face features large block embossed lettering reading MOTOR BIG TREE SPIRIT. The top surface is embossed PETROLEUM CO LTD around the wire handle, with 2 GALS to the lower right and INFLAMMABLE at the bottom centre. Constructed from pressed tin-plated steel, the body has been overpainted in a light grey finish. It is fitted with a period brass screw-on filler cap with two protruding lugs.

Condition report:

The can has been overpainted in a matte light grey. Several moderate indentations and oil-canning are visible on the side panels (photos 2 and 4). Signs of minor pitting and surface corrosion are evident beneath the paint layer, particularly along the bottom seams and corners (photos 1 and 3). The brass filler cap and wire handle are present and intact (photo 6).
