Start price: £120

Estimated price: £250 - £500

Buyer's Premium: 16%

A circular glass petrol pump globe with a bulbous profile, featuring an identical transfer-printed design to the front and back consisting of a blue geometric diamond-shaped frame housing the brand name DOMINION in black serif lettering. The base is finished with a stamped maker mark reading WEBB’S CRYSTAL GLASS CO LTD / LONDON and a further stamped ownership mark PROPERTY OF THE NATIONAL BENZOLE CO LTD. The interior neck is hand-marked REG N° 861335. A blue paper label reading SOTHEBY’S 1994 is tied to the top indicating when the item was previously bought.

Condition report:

Although the globe presents nicely when mounted, significant damage is present to the mounting neck, with a large chip and loss of glass covering roughly 30 per cent of the rim (photos 8, 9, 10, and 11). The blue pigment in the logo shows fading and mottling, especially to the lower sections of the diamond frame (photos 1, 2, and 5).
