A double-sided flanged enamel advertising sign for Wakefield Castrol Motor Oil. The sign features a red ground with a central yellow circle bisected by a white horizontal bar. The central bar displays stylized black serif block lettering reading CASTROL, bordered by black lines. The upper yellow arc is lettered WAKEFIELD and the lower arc MOTOR OIL in black sans-serif characters. The sign is constructed from heavy-gauge metal with a layered enamel finish. The mounting flange is located along the left-hand vertical edge.

Condition report:
The sign exhibits significant enamel loss and corrosion across both faces and all edges. There is heavy rusting and jagged loss to the mounting flange (photo 4). Multiple chips to the enamel are visible on the main display fields, exposing the dark metal substrate. A large area of active corrosion and blistering oxidation is present in the centre of the sign, particularly affecting the letters S, T, R, and O of the brand name (photo 5, photo 7). The surface shows general dulling, pitting, and scattered scratches consistent with long-term outdoor exposure.
