A one-quart tapered metal measuring jug with an applied side handle and extended pouring spout. The body features a lithographed red ground displaying large yellow lettering outlined in black reading SHELL above a grey band lettered MOTOR OIL in black. The lower section carries the slogan AS GOOD AS SHELL PETROL flanking a red and yellow Shell pecten emblem. The word QUART is embossed onto the upper metal body and stamped on the inner flared rim. A circular verification stamp featuring a crown above GR and inspector number 589 is stamped on the flared collar.
Condition report:
Paint loss, surface scratching, flaking, and exposed metal across the lithographed exterior wrap, particularly to the lettering on the body (photos 1, 2, and 4). Surface oxidation and tarnishing are present across the unpainted metal sections, including the handle, interior, spout, and base (photos 1, 2, and 3). Light denting and uneven wear around the base rim (photos 1 and 2). Darkening and residue visible to the interior surfaces (photo 3).
