Lot 369: Gargoyle Mobiloil Motor Oil Can
0 views
A one litre triangular motor oil can for Gargoyle Mobiloil. The tinplate container features a cream ground with the red Gargoyle logo and black serif lettering for Mobiloil. A red lower band contains a cream panel printed with a quoted letter D. The base of the front and rear panels is marked VACUUM OIL COMPANY. One side panel is printed with German text regarding the seal and contents, marked VACUUM OIL COMPANY A.G. at the base. The opposite side panel features the same instructions in Czech, marked VACUUM OIL COMPANY A.S. to the bottom edge. The can retains its original metal screw cap.
Condition report:
The can presents exceptionally well on both main faces and both sides with bright colours throughout. It has, however, clearly been left to stand in water and this has severely damaged the underside. Given the condition of the rest of the can it would certainly merit restoration to this area.
