A rectangular motor oil can for Royal Snowdrift Oil, manufactured by Snowdon, Sons & Co. Ltd. of Millwall, London. The lithographed yellow can features a central red shield logo with a diagonal blue band and a red lion passant crest. The brand name is printed in block capitals within the shield and in a black Gothic-style font below. A side panel lists various oil grades including No. 1 Light Body, No. 2 Medium Body, No. 3 and No. 4 Summer & Winter bodies, as well as specific grades for motor cycles and racing for track work. The base of the main panels includes the manufacturer name and branch locations in Liverpool, Manchester, Bradford, and Swansea. The can retains its original wire carrying handle and metal screw-top cap. A faint stamp reading ‘HEAVY’ is visible on one face.
Approximately 11 1/4 inches to the top rim; approximately 12 inches to the top of the spout.

Condition report:

The can is in a weathered, used condition with age-related surface rust and corrosion throughout, most prevalent on the top (photo 8), base, and seams (photo 1, 2). There are several small dents and localized areas of paint loss on all panels (photo 3, 5). The lithographed graphics show general darkening and staining but remain largely legible.
