A 1/2 lb cylindrical lithographed tin for Linklyfe chain lubricant, manufactured by Filtrate Ltd. The yellow ground is decorated with horizontal red and black bands. The front features a black oval cartouche containing white block lettering reading LINKLYFE REGD. above the text FOR LUBRICATING CHAINS. A small white rectangular mark at the base displays the brand name Filtrate in stylized cursive. The reverse provides a list of four usage instructions and states the contents include molybdenum disulphide and graphite. The base of the reverse is marked FILTRATE LTD LEEDS AND LONDON ESTABLISHED 1807. The matching yellow recessed lid carries red instructions reading ALWAYS REPLACE LID AND SHAKE OR STIR BEFORE USING.
Height approximately 10.5 cm; diameter approximately 8.5 cm.


Condition report:

Very good original condition. There is oxidation and surface rust along the upper metal rim and lid edges (photo 4). The lithographed body shows scattered light scratches, minor paint loss, and general surface grime (photo 1 and 2). No significant dents are visible.
