A Matthew Brown & Co. Ltd. circular lithographed metal waiter’s tray featuring a white ground with green and red graphics. The central motif depicts a stylized green barrel outline containing the text LION ALES in red block lettering. The top rim is printed with MATTHEW BROWN & CO. LTD. in green, and the bottom rim reads LION BREWERY, BLACKBURN. The tray finished with a deep green painted rim. A printer’s mark at the bottom edge reads PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN BY REGINALD CORFIELD LTD. 6423. The underside has a plain metallic finish with four central rivet points.
Diameter: 12 inches.


Condition report:

The obverse face remains in good display condition with vibrant colours, showing scattered small surface scratches and minor paint loss near the internal rivets (photo 1). The green rim exhibits minor edge wear and small chips to the paint (photo 3). The reverse shows significant oxidation and rust across the central circular section, along with heavy scuffing and loss to the original metallic finish (photo 2).
