A Scottish copper advertising tray featuring a central chased and embossed design of the Johnnie Walker striding man figure in a top hat and tails with a walking cane. The figure is set against a background depicting a tiled floor and brick walls, flanked by the lettering BORN EIGHTEEN TWENTY and STILL GOING STRONG. The raised outer rim carries large embossed block lettering reading JOHNNIE to the top edge and WALKER to the bottom. The reverse shows the corresponding indentations from the front design and bears a stamped mark on the bottom rim reading DESIGN REGISTERED No 843280 and MADE IN SCOTLAND.
Diameter: 14 inches.
Condition report:
The tray exhibits signs of utility and age with a natural copper patina and surface oxidation. There is noticeable verdigris (green oxidation) concentrated within the recessed lines of the central engraving and rim lettering (photo 1). The copper surface shows scattered spotting, minor surface scratches, and small indentations to the rim (photo 3). The reverse displays heavier oxidation and dark spotting throughout (photo 2).
