Lot 324: A Pair of Player's Please Metal Advertising Trays
0 views
A pair of John Player & Sons metal advertising trays featuring a chrome-plated finish. Each circular tray is designed with a wide, flat rim and a central well with a hammered, dimpled texture. The rim is embossed with the slogan PLAYER’S PLEASE. in relief lettering, repeated four times around the circumference. The reverse of each tray shows the slogan impressed in reverse. Small, faint stamped marks are present in the textured centre of one tray but are not legible as characters or names.
Diameter: 12 inches.
Condition report:
Both trays exhibit surface wear and light scratching across the chrome plating consistent with commercial bar usage (photo 1). Adhesive residue is visible on the rim of one tray at the 10 o\'clock and 2 o\'clock positions (photo 2). There are minor instances of pitting, tarnishing, and small spots of oxidisation in the recessed areas and along the outer rim edges (photo 4). The metal remains structurally sound with no major dents or warping.
