A printed cardboard advertising showcard for Ogden’s Guinea Gold Cigarettes. The decoratively shaped card features a dark wood-grain effect ground with Art Nouveau style whiplash vines and red berry clusters framing a central graphic of a cigarette packet. The packet image includes text reading GOLD MEDAL AWARDED OGDEN’S PARIS EXHIBITION, 1900, OGDEN’S GUINEA GOLD CIGARETTES, and Beware of Imitations. Extra Quality. The main body text is printed in white and green, reading OGDEN’S GUINEA GOLD CIGARETTES 2 1/2d PER PACKET OF 10. The lower margin is inscribed ISSUED BY THE IMPERIAL TOBACCO COMPANY (OF GREAT BRITAIN & IRELAND) LTD. The reverse is fitted with a brown paper-wrapped cardboard easel strut and fabric loop.
