A Draught Guinness advertising table lamp, featuring a hand-painted ceramic base modelled as the iconic Guinness penguin standing on a black square plinth. The penguin holds a blue rectangular sign with white lettering reading DRAUGHT GUINNESS. The lamp is fitted with a parchment shade decorated with a repeating printed pattern of the Guinness toucan character in various sizes, with the larger toucans shown balancing a pint on their beaks. The underside of the base bears a blue printed mark in four lines: CarltonWare, Handpainted, MADE IN ENGLAND, TRADE MARK. The lamp is fitted with a gold-coloured plastic-coated twin-core flex cord, a black two-pin plug, and a black plastic bayonet cap socket with a white push-switch.

Base height 9 inches, total height to top of bulb 13 inches, shade height 5.5 inches.

Condition report:

The ceramic penguin base appears in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs (photos 1, 2, 3, 4). The parchment shade shows significant wear including vertical and diagonal creasing and tearing (photos 2, 3), with visible staining and foxing to both the interior and exterior surfaces (photos 1, 5). The interior wire clip-on frame shows surface oxidation (photo 5). The electrical components appear intact but the cord shows age-related stiffening and the item would require professional testing before use.
