Andrew Usher and Co. advertising sign for Usher’s Special Reserve and O.V.G. Whiskies. The sign features a dark blue-toned glass panel with applied relief brass-toned lettering reading USHER’S, SPECIAL RESERVE, &, O.V.G., WHISKIES. The panel is housed in a polished wood frame with shaped outer edges and integrated bar accessories. Attached to the left is a stamped brass cigar cutter plate embossed CIGAR CUTTER and ANDREW USHER & CO at the base. Attached to the right is a stamped brass match box holder embossed MATCHES and ANDREW USHER & CO at the base. The reverse is finished with modern brown backing paper secured with tape. Brass mounting brackets are present at the top and bottom edges. The overall width across the widest point of the frame is approximately 18 inches, and the overall height is approximately 28.5 inches.

Condition report:

The wooden frame shows scattered surface scuffs, scratches, and minor abrasions consistent with pub use, particularly visible on the outer edges and lower section (photo 1, 2). The glass panel appears in good order with light surface grime and minor oxidation to the edges of the applied lettering (photo 3, 4). The brass cigar cutter and match holder show an aged patina and minor surface wear (photo 3, 4). The backing paper is a modern replacement secured with adhesive tape (photo 8).
