A trio of lithographed tin advertising items for Franklyn’s tobacco products. The first is a Franklyn’s Cutty Shag bagatelle or pinball game, featuring a red ground with white and black lettering reading ALWAYS SMOKE, FRANKLYN’S and CUTTY SHAG. The arched game face includes scoring rings from 50 to 200, bottom slots, and a plunger mechanism to the lower right. The top edge is marked with a printed Regd No 778283. The second item is a Franklyn’s Mild Tobacco billiards or snooker scorer with a yellow ground and black lettering, featuring four tracks with green and black sliding markers. The top tracks are numbered 0-20, and the bottom tracks are graduated from 0-100 and 0-1000. The bottom edge is marked SOLD ONLY IN PACKETS AND TINS with a small mark numbered 11521 to the corner. The final piece is a lithographed tin advertising frame with an orange ground, the top rail marked FRANKLYN’S, the stiles marked CUTTY SHAGG and the bottom rail marked SCORES WELL ON EVERY SIDE.

Condition report:

The bagatelle board shows significant paint loss, heavy oxidation and surface rust to the reverse (photo 10) and wear to the front face with scratches, minor denting and rust spots throughout (photo 3). The billiards scorer displays surface wear, minor scratching and small oxidation marks (photo 4), with typical darkening to the reverse (photo 10). The advertising frame exhibits moderate wear including paint chips, scratches and surface rust, particularly along the mitered corners and outer edges (photo 2).
