A double-sided flanged metal advertising sign for du Maurier cigarettes. The sign features a red ground with bold white sans-serif lettering reading ‘du MAURIER / THE FILTER TIP / CIGARETTE’ to both sides. A printed black mark to the lower corner of the flange reads ‘N.L. COWLING (CHARLTON) LTD. PAT. 653242’.
16 inches wide by 12 inches high.


Condition report:

Surface scratches, scuffs, and abrasions are visible across the red and white painted areas on both sides (photos 1, 2, 4). There is significant paint loss, chipping, and heavy oxidation along the flange and the adjacent lower corner (photo 3). Rusting is present around the four pre-drilled mounting holes on the flange (photo 2). Minor edge wear and small areas of paint loss appear around the perimeter of the main panels, with general weathering and slight fading to the red pigment (photos 1, 4).
