A double-sided flanged enamel advertising sign for BP Motor Spirit. The sign features a Union Jack ground with a central white circular reserve containing the BP logo in blue block lettering within quotation marks, with MOTOR above and SPIRIT below in a blue sans-serif typeface. A printed maker’s mark to the lower right corner reads FRANCO SIGNS. London. W.I. with the code F/UU beneath.

Condition report:

The mounting flange shows significant corrosion and metal loss (photos 1, 2, and 4). Enamel chips are present along the edges and around the mounting holes, with a notable loss to the red stripe at the right-hand edge (photo 7). The surface displays multiple scratches and scuffs (photos 5 and 6). General surface oxidation is visible along the exposed metal edges (photos 9 and 10). The colours remain bright.
