Peter Walker & Sons Warrington and Burton, Limited advertising poster for Falstaff Brand. The lithographed showcard features a light green ground with dark blue serif lettering outlined in gold tones. A central oval vignette depicts the character Falstaff as a portly bearded man in a yellow tunic raising a pewter tankard, positioned before a mounted stag’s head. The central image is flanked by two circular brand crests containing a coat of arms with a knight on horseback and a standing figure surmounted by a crown. A printed mark to the bottom edge reads ‘DOBSON, MOLLE & CO LTD EDINBURGH & LONDON’. Presented in a dark-stained wooden frame.

Condition report:

The print shows significant widespread foxing and age-related spotting across the light green ground (photo 1). Visible water staining and discolouration are present along the bottom edge (photo 4). The frame has scattered surface scuffs and a small chip to the wood on the right-hand outer edge (photo 6). The original backing has been replaced with modern corrugated cardboard (photo 8).
