Allsopp’s Burton Ale advertising print, featuring a reproduction of a historical bottle label. The central yellow ground displays the brewery’s hand trade mark above the words ‘TRADE MARK’, with ‘ALLSOPP’S’ in black bold lettering to the upper arc and ‘BURTON ALE.’ to the lower. A central horizontal band in black bears two printed script signatures for ‘Samuel Allsopp & Sons’ flanking the words ‘THIS LABEL IS ISSUED BY US’. The design is framed by a red, white, and blue border commemorating exhibition awards, inscribed ‘GOLD MEDAL PARIS - 1867.’ and ‘FIRST CLASS LONDON - 1862.’. Two depicted medals show a profile bust of ‘NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR’ and relief figures. Small print to the yellow field reads ‘ENLARGED COPY OF LABEL’ and ‘ISSUED BY S. ALLSOPP & SONS’. Presented under glass in a stepped dark-stained wooden frame with a gilt inner slip.

Condition report:
The print shows light even toning and scattered foxing, most visible to the lower left quadrant (photo 2, 3). The frame has light surface scuffing and minor wear to the stained finish. The rear composite backing board is secured with brown framing tape which is peeling in several places (photo 5).
