A Bass & Co Pale Ale advertising tablet, the circular lithographed print set behind glass within an embossed brass frame. The frame features raised lettering reading BASS, RATCLIFF & GRETTON LIMITED and BURTON-ON-TRENT. The central design replicates a brewery bottle label, showing the red triangle trademark above Bass & Co IN BOTTLE. The surround is printed with exhibition awards for FIRST CLASS LONDON 1862 and GOLD MEDAL PARIS 1867. The lower border of the print includes the printer’s mark HUDSON & KEARNS LITHO. LONDON S.E. 12.B and a note stating THIS TABLET IS AN ENLARGED COPY OF THE LABEL ISSUED ONLY BY BASS RATCLIFF & GRETTON LIMITED.

Condition report:

Significant age-related foxing, browning, and staining is visible across the lithographed print (photos 1-4). The embossed brass frame shows a darkened patina and areas of tarnish throughout (photo 1). The reverse side has heavily torn and distressed brown backing paper (photo 5). The hanging wire and eyelets remain attached (photo 5).
