An assortment of five promotional advertising items for British confectionery, tobacco, and brewing brands. The group includes a Smith’s Potato Crisps counter-top display bowl featuring a clear plastic outer shell with a yellow and blue printed insert reading SMITH’S POTATO CRISPS in a diamond logo, flanked by TRY THEM and Thank You. A circular Terry York chocolate counter display dish is formed from clear molded plastic with an insert showing a palm tree graphic and the text THE SIGN OF GOOD CHOCOLATES TERRY YORK. The breweriana includes a green glazed Worthington Best Bitter shield-shaped ceramic ashtray, featuring the red and white sword crest and text reading ESTD 1761, Worthington -BEST- BITTER, William Henry Worthington, BREWERS OF FINE BEERS AND ALES. The base of this piece has an adhesive red label reading HCW PRODUCTS MADE IN ENGLAND. Also included is a red and cream glazed ceramic Double Diamond ashtray in the shape of two D-letters, printed with DOUBLE DIAMOND and WORKS WONDERS!. The dark green glazed base is printed with a circular mark reading Bristol Pottery Made in England. Completing the lot is a teardrop-shaped light blue glazed ceramic ashtray for Rhodian Cigarettes with yellow and blue lettering.


Condition report:

The Smith\'s Crisps display bowl shows significant loss and flaking to the interior yellow coating and surface scratching to the plastic (photo 1). The Terry York display dish shows yellowing and discoloration around the edges of the printed insert (photo 1). The Rhodian Cigarettes ashtray has several prominent glaze chips to the upper rim and body, exposing the white ceramic underneath (photo 1). The Worthington ashtray shows minor rubbing to the gilt edge detailing. The Double Diamond ashtray appears in good condition with minor surface wear. All three ceramic pieces retain their original feet (cork or rubber) on the underside.
