A ceramic advertising match striker for Mountain Dew Scotch Whisky. The spherical body is decorated with black transfer-printed advertising text reading MOUNTAIN DEW within a pointed oval frame featuring decorative flourishes, alongside ROBERTSON SANDERSON & CO. LTD. LEITH. The upper section around the aperture features an unglazed, textured striking band. The base features a printed black mark reading RALPH HAMMERSLEY & SON MANUFACTURERS BURSLEM.

Diameter: 9.5cm (approximate).


Condition report:

The item displays fine-line crazing across the entire glazed surface, which has darkened with age (photo 1). Staining and browning are visible beneath the glaze, particularly concentrated around the base and lettering (photo 2). The unglazed striking ring shows darkening and wear consistent with use (photo 3). Several small surface scratches and minor scuffs are present on the body (photo 1). Potting rings are visible on the base from the manufacturing process (photo 2).
