A Samuel Allsopp & Sons Ltd advertising match striker, featuring a cream-coloured glazed body with a textured striking surface to the circumference. The upper rim is decorated with the repeated slogan ASK FOR ALLSOPP’S in black serif lettering. Four transfers of the brewery’s trademark Red Hand logo are positioned around the sides. The base features two circular black printed marks. The first is a circular stamp reading WALLER WILLIS & Co, 11, IDOL LANE, LONDON E. C. The second mark reads THE PROPERTY OF SAMUEL ALLSOPP & SONS LTD BURTON-ON-TRENT. Diameter: 4 inches.


Condition report:

The item shows heavy crazing throughout the glaze on all surfaces. There are visible chips and glaze losses to the upper rim (photo 2 and 4). Heavy staining and discolouration are present within the central well and across the striking surface (photo 2). The textured striking area shows surface darkening and dirt from use (photo 1).
