An enamel sign with a yellow ground featuring arched dark blue serif lettering reading RED BELL across the top. The centre displays a graphic of a red bell inscribed with white lettering for EDWARDS, RINGER & CO. To the base, the sign specifies the price in pre-decimal currency as 3d Per Ounce 3d. A printed maker’s mark to the lower edge reads PATENT ENAMEL CO LTD BHAM & LONDON. The reverse is finished with a textured black protective layer. 30 x 39.5 inches


Condition report:

The face shows multiple surface scratches and scuffs (photos 1, 6). Significant enamel loss and chipping is present along the right edge with exposed rusted metal (photos 1, 3). Smaller chips are visible around the corners and left edge (photo 5). There are multiple areas of textured restoration to the yellow ground, including a section to the upper right (photo 3) and several circular patches to the left and bottom edge (photos 5, 8, 9, 10). Oxidation is visible on all exposed metal edges.
