A lithographed metal advertising sign for Margrave Bros. of Llanelly. The cream ground features dark brown serif lettering and multiple monochrome industrial vignettes depicting the company’s various facilities. These include a circular inset of the Head Offices at Bridge Street, a central view of the Bonded Stores in Llanelly, and three interior views showing the ship stores, Glasgow bonded warehouse, and wine bottling department. The design is finished with decorative thistle motifs and promotes the Excelsior and Pearl whisky brands. A printed manufacturer’s mark at the bottom right reads SIR JOSEPH CAUSTON and SONS. MANUFACTURERS. LONDON.

Width: 23.5 inches
Height: 17.5 inches.

Condition report:

The sign is in poor to fair condition with heavy oxidation and surface rust around the perimeter and at the four corner mounting holes (photo 1). There is a significant area of surface loss and deep corrosion to the lower right quadrant which partially obscures the text (photo 4) and a further circular area of loss to the right of the centre (photo 3). The face exhibits overall fading, discoloration, and scattered surface scratches. The reverse shows heavy and uniform surface rust throughout (photo 6).
