Lot 26: A Pair of Vintage Newspaper Advertising Placards for 'The Field' and 'The Queen'

A pair of vintage advertising placards, likely constructed from painted board or thin metal sheeting, promoting two distinct weekly newspapers. The first placard advertises “FIELD THE COUNTRY GENTLEMAN NEWSPAPER,” featuring an engraving-style illustration of a horse and rider jumping a fence. The text includes “EVERY SATURDAY. Price 6d.” The second placard advertises “The QUEEN THE LADY’S NEWSPAPER & COURT CHRONICLE,” utilizing ornate typography surrounded by decorative scrollwork. The text includes “EVERY FRIDAY. Price 6d.” Both placards share a similar design aesthetic, featuring large black text titles and prominent red typography for the price and publication day, suggesting they were part of the same early 20th-century promotional campaign.
