Lot 23: Rowntree's Factory Advertising Sign

A pair of vintage Rowntree’s advertising signs or sign fragments, likely constructed of tin or enamel based on market consensus for similar examples of this period advertising ephemera. Both signs feature the Rowntree’s name and advertise “CHOCOLATES” and “PASTILLES.” The primary sign is set against a vibrant yellow background and features a dark blue/black field with white block lettering. Centered within the main field is a rectangular graphic depicting an airship or dirigible. Both fragments display text denoting Royal Warrant status, including “MAKERS TO H.M. THE KING, ” suggesting a dating to the early 20th century.
