Lot 75: Player's No. 6 Please On All Grounds Footballer Advertising Figurine
2 views
A polychrome painted advertising display figure featuring a footballer, likely cast in resin or a heavy composite material. The figure depicts a goalkeeper in a long-sleeved green jersey with a black collar, black shorts, blue socks, and black boots, holding a brown leather-style football. The figure stands before a brown post-like support on a green textured base with a sloped front. The front of the base features embossed white lettering reading PLAYER’S Nº 6 PLEASE ON ALL GROUNDS, with the Nº 6 contained within a rectangular border. The jersey features a small crest on the left chest, although the details are not clearly legible. The underside of the base is finished in green paint, showing a pitted and textured surface consistent with a cast material, with no visible maker’s marks or stamps.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good condition with original paint remaining bright and text clearly legible. There is visible surface dust and grime settled into the textured areas of the base and the player\'s hair (photo 1). Minor paint losses and scuffs are present, particularly on the edges of the sloped base and the toes of the player\'s boots (photo 1). The green paint on the underside shows some wear and minor chipping at the corners (photo 5).
