A green ground enamel advertising sign for Westward Ho! Smoking Mixture produced for W.D. & H.O. Wills. The upper section features bold yellow sans-serif lettering, while the lower section carries the maker name in large serif font. The central graphic depicts a yellow tobacco packet illustrated with two figures, Sir Amyas Leigh and Salvation Yeo, smoking pipes. The packet also includes a literary quote from Charles Kingsley’s novel and trade mark references including No 5908 and Mark 15379. The bottom edge is marked Imperial Tobacco Co (of Great Britain & Ireland) Ltd. The reverse is finished in black with adhesive tape and paint drips. Modern inventory stickers are present to the lower right corner reading Wellmans 13010 and 1357 Part Lot 04 18.
