Enamel advertising sign for Melox Dog Foods featuring a dark blue ground and a white outer border. The central graphic depicts a wire-haired fox terrier type dog standing on a red circular field containing the brand name in white block lettering with black shading. The slogan The Finest in the World appears in white sans-serif type along the bottom edge. A printed black maker’s mark to the bottom right reads BRUTON, PALMERS GREEN, N.13. The reverse is coated in a dark, textured protective substance.
18 x 24 inches.

Condition report:

Nicely presented, with the important parts of the sign in good order with bright colours. The enamel surface shows extensive light scratching and scuffing throughout, most notable on the dark blue ground (photo 1). Enamel chipping and rust are visible along the outer edges, especially the right side and bottom (photo 5). There is enamel loss and oxidisation at all six mounting holes, with several areas showing amateur restoration, the most notable of which is between the O and X of Melox. (photos 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, and 14). The reverse shows pitting and wear to the textured finish (photo 15).
