A scallop shell-shaped petrol pump globe constructed from two joined sections of white opal glass. The front and reverse faces feature raised relief lettering, with SHELL finished in red and DIESOLINE in black. The neck of the globe is moulded with the text HAILWARE BRITISH MADE. Inside the neck is a printed black ownership stencil reading PROPERTY OF SHELL-MEX & B.P. LTD. RETURNABLE ON DEMAND. The lower ground edge of the neck is hand-marked H 9 63, indicating a manufacture date of September 1963.
