A Barclay, Perkins & Co. advertising print for London Stouts in it’s original Branded wooden frame. The off-white ground features black shadowed serif lettering. A central graphic shows the brewery’s red anchor trademark inside a circular roundel, decorated with green hop vines. The lower margin bears a printed mark reading SUTTON SHARPE & CO QUEEN VICTORIA ST LONDON. Set in an oak frame with a gilt inner slip, featuring incised lettering to the top rail BARCLAY PERKINS & CO and LONDON to the bottom.
31.5 inches wide, 23.25 inches high.


Condition report:

Multiple vertical water stains and damp marks are visible across the centre and sides of the print (photos 1, 2, 3, 4, 8). The paper ground shows overall age-related yellowing and foxing (photo 8). The oak frame has minor surface scuffs and wear consistent with age (photos 6, 7). The reverse backing paper is torn and shows significant wear (photo 9).
