A William Younger Scotch Ale framed advertising showcard featuring die-cut card elements applied to a deep maroon ground. The display depicts the Father William mascot with a long white beard, yellow top hat, and spectacles, dressed in a black jacket and red, yellow, and green tartan trousers. He is shown holding a glass and a bottle, the latter bearing a printed label for WM YOUNGER & COs, HOLYROOD BREWERIES, and SCOTCH ALE. The upper section contains a cream banner with red and black lettering for No 1 Strong Ale at 6d per bottle. The lower section includes the printed slogans Get ‘younger’ every day and WILLIAM YOUNGER’S, with Scotch Ale rendered in a tartan blackletter font above BREWED IN EDINBURGH. The bottom right corner of the lower panel is marked PROV. PAT. in red. The piece is housed in a black-painted wooden frame with a silver-toned beaded inner slip and an aged cardboard backing.

Condition report:
A horizontal discolouration stain is visible along the bottom edge of the top cream banner (photo 2). The maroon ground shows minor surface dust and faint marks (photo 2). The black-painted frame has visible wear, including scuffing, paint loss, and small chips (photo 7). The reverse cardboard backing is held with aged and yellowed tape (photo 9).
