A framed advertising print for Hudson’s Dry Soap featuring a black ground. The piece displays cream and yellow block lettering for the brand and product at the top, with the slogan HUDSON’S LEAVES NO SMELL to the bottom. The central printed graphic depicts a man and woman in 18th-century dress singing from a book next to a harpsichord with the Hudson’s Soap Song sheet music, and a steaming bucket with a mop to the corner. The lower right edge bears a printed mark reading W. JONES, The WJ Printing Factory, off Golden Lane, E.C. including a green circular WJ logo. The showcard is presented in a glazed ornate gilded frame.

Condition report:

The print displays visible spotting and foxing throughout the upper sections and dark background areas (photos 1 and 2). There is a slight ripple to the paper at the top edge (photo 2). The gilded frame is in generally good condition with light surface dust and minor wear to the edges (photos 5 and 6). The reverse is sealed with brown paper and fitted with two metal hanging brackets (photo 7).
