Lot 28: A Trio of Vintage Porcelain Enamel Advertising Signs including Californian Borax
0 views
A collection of three vintage porcelain enamel advertising signs. The primary sign is a rectangular Californian Borax Extract of Soap sign, featuring a white ground with blue and black lettering and graphics. The text includes “QUEEN’S PATENT,” a stylized Royal Coat of Arms, “CALIFORNIAN,” and repeated usage of “BORAX” within oval graphics, advertising “EXTRACT OF SOAP,” “BEST DRY SOAP,” and “STARCH GLAZE SOLD HERE.” The sign is constructed with mounting holes present in the upper corners. Partially visible behind the Borax sign is a second, larger enamel sign depicting a round tin, associated with Cadbury confectionery (text “CADBURY” and “ROU[ND]” visible). A third, smaller red sign with white text reading “BR” is visible to the far left. These signs are typical of vintage advertising artifacts.
