Lot 20: A Rowntree's Elect Cocoa Enamel Advertising Sign

A vintage Rowntree’s Elect Cocoa porcelain enamel advertising sign. The rectangular sign features a dark blue/green border surrounding a central bright red field. The text “Rowntree’s ELECT Cocoa” is rendered in stylized white script. Additional yellow text includes “BUY ALWAYS” at the top and the Royal Warrant notation, “MAKERS TO H.M. THE KING,” at the base, suggesting an early 20th-century date. A graphic depiction of a Rowntree’s cocoa tin is located in the lower right corner. The sign is currently mounted against a bright yellow surface. A partial second enamel sign, bearing the text “…THE KING & QUEEN,” is visible directly below the primary sign.
